You did it! Woohoo! You were an amazing kindergartner, and you are a FIRST GRADER now! It feels like we just began this adventure together and here we are, getting ready to close the door on an awesome school year. In the days we’ve spent together in Room 47, we have learned and grown so much. With us, we get to take many great memories. Memories of fun classroom projects, reading and writing with a buddy, math workshop, Fun Run, Share Chair, field trips, P.E. and playground games, songs and dance breaks, mindful moments in the Zen Den, and
much, much more!
Every single one of you has brought joy and happiness to this classroom and our family of friends.
Like a family, we shared many busy, fun-filled, exciting days, as well as a handful of more difficult and challenging days. Thank you for always sharing your smiles and laughter. Thank you for asking big questions and making me stop, think and explain. Thank you for sharing your stories and jokes. Thank you for laughing at my awful jokes. Thank you for singing songs and being silly with me. Thank you for being understanding and patient with one another. Thank you for being understanding and patient with me (even Mrs. Davis has tough days). Most of all, thank you for being YOU. You keep me young. You give me purpose.
I hope you learned a lot this year, and I hope you feel ready for the next open door. I will miss you quite a bit but, I know in my heart, you are ready for big challenges in the first grade! I hope you leave Room 47 sharing my love for a good story and great books. I hope you feel confident and comfortable writing every day. I hope you see the magic in how numbers and shapes work in the world around us – everywhere we look! I hope you stay curious and continue to ask BIG questions! I hope that speaking in front of a large group isn't quite as scary as it once was. I hope you remember to pause, reflect, and move forward with a heart filled with thankfulness every day. I hope you remember that there are many ways to solve a problem and, when one strategy doesn’t work, we try and try again. I hope you continue making connections and learn new things every day. I hope you remember how important it is to look out for others and to be there to pick someone up when they need it.
For now, it's time to say goodbye. Enjoy your summer break! Be sure to come back and see me - you know where I'll be. I promise I won't forget you, and I can’t wait to hear about your future adventures! You will forever be a part of my kindergarten family.
See you soon,
