We will be having a kindergarten Teddy Bear Tea Party this Friday! If you have expressed interest in attending or volunteering, please plan on arriving between 2 – 2:15pm. Thank you!! I realize that there are a few different things going on around campus, and I want to be sure that I am helpful in clearing up any confusion. Here are a few notes about what we have planned:
1) The academic focus has been on President’s Day, understanding how Americans choose to recognize important historical figures, and identifying characteristics of strong leaders. We have learned about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt. Students have learned the story of the original “teddy bear,” and this is why they have been invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to school on Friday.
2) From 2:00 to 3:15pm, we will have a celebration. During that time, students will be rotating through centers where they will have the opportunity to taste teas, practice proper etiquette, interview their teddy, measure their teddy, and make “mud pie!"
3) Though our team will strive to emphasis academics throughout the day, we understand that (for many young children) this will be our students’ first experience acknowledge “Friendship Day” or “Valentine’s Day” with their classmates. If your child would like to distribute a treat or special notes, he/she will have an opportunity to pass those out throughout the day. Students will be discouraged from reading notes or eating candies until they take the collection home.
Please let me know if you would like to come or have any questions. Thank you. :)
